For many of us, especially those who have experienced losses, the holiday season is complicated. We may remember loved ones who have died, or broken relationships. We may be facing health problems or challenges with work. The culture says this is the most wonderful time of the year…but our hearts may say otherwise.
What is the Longest Night Gathering?
It is a quiet, hope-filled, Christian worship service on the longest night of the year. It includes times of prayer, healing and gentle music. There will be bible readings and prayers offered. You may light a candle to remember and honor loved ones or perhaps a relationship.
Healing? You may choose to be prayed for personally, with the laying on of hands and anointing with oil. These ancient prayer practices are offered for many reasons—and not always for physical healing. We ask for God's help and we give ourselves over to God’s mercy and will.
Is it for me? It might well be for you. If your heart is longing for some sort of relief, some peace, this quiet time away from the holiday rush on the longest night of our year may just right for you.
